The Division of Local Services is pleased to announce that the next issue of City and Town is now available online.
Articles of interest include a look back at how the legal concept of "home rule" developed in Massachusetts and how it fits in the wider and national context of a peoples' right to self-governance.
The "Focus" story is an in-depth view of the valuation of state-owned land in the Commonwealth's 351 cities and towns, an item of particular note given the importance of those valuations in determining payments in lieu of taxes (PILOT) from the state to local governments.
