Local option meals tax has generated $11.3 million

The local option meals tax of .75 percent has now delivered $11.31 million in revenue to the 78 cities and towns that have adopted it (as of May 3, 2010).

In general, the amounts collected and distributed back to cities and towns are roughly in line with estimates DOR released last year after the local option was approved. Those estimates were based on the most recently available U.S. Census data and were just that, estimates.

The estimates did not reflect seasonal variation. It is entirely possible that some communities will see far more revenue from the local option meals tax when the weather is better and there is more dining on the part of tourists, for instance.

William, thanks for your comment. The list is designed to explicitly show communities that have adopted the local option as well as those that have not. In addition, it is a template that allows for easy addition of communities; since this post 13 more communities have adopted the local option,

Would it be possible to post a list that eliminates the non participants and still shows the revenue collected per participant?
